 The cucumber, moisturizing and purifying, belongs to the cucurbitaceae family and is native to Eastern and Southern Asia; it is a creeping or climbing plant with a quadrangular and hairy ribbed stem, while the leaves are rather large and palmate-lobed; the flowers are yellow and have 5 lobes. With an elongated shape and similar to that of the courgette, the cucumber has a thick, slightly lumpy green skin, with white and juicy pulp and many seeds in the central part. Virtually calorie-free, and therefore widely used in diets, it mainly contains water, mineral salts, calcium, phosphorus, sodium and vitamin C.

The benefits and properties of cucumber are really many and for this reason it is undoubtedly considered a "health food". Low in calories but rich in water and nutrients, cucumbers reduce the risk of premature aging and therefore that of related diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and cancer; eaten fresh, especially during the summer, it is very useful for combating general tiredness and exhaustion, due to high temperatures in this season.

Thanks to the high presence of water, cucumber is also a powerful diuretic and purifying, it allows you to eliminate excess liquids and limit the presence of cellulite.

In addition to containing a lot of water and fiber, it is a very low sugar vegetable and this makes it suitable for all those people who, for one reason or another, need to keep their blood sugar and cholesterol under control.

Cucumber has also always been used in the cosmetic field thanks to its purifying, whitening and reactivating properties. Perfect for whitening annoying skin spots, it is also used to deflate bags under the eyes, thus allowing correct reactivation of circulation. It is also very useful to make the skin softer and brighter and to cleanse it thoroughly without irritating it.
